NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his support for Indian investors to do business in Việt Nam during a meeting with visiting National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân in New Delhi yesterday.

He recalled his visit to Việt Nam in September  二0 一 六 and said India’s firms are impressed with the investment environment in the Southeast Asian country.

He described the long-standing friendship between Việt Nam and India as a treasure for the future generations to nurture and develop to a new height.

Regarding the East Sea (South China Sea) issue, the PM confirmed that India advocated the settlement of disputes via peaceful means and international law.

For her part, NA Chairwoman Ngân expressed her pleasure at the remarkable strides in the bilateral relations over the past  四 五 years, especially when the two countries lifted their strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership during the Indian PM’s visit to Việt Nam in September.

That move created a new significant framework for deeper cooperation across the fields, she said, adding that the two countries would celebrate the  四 五th anniversary of diplomatic ties and  一0th anniversary of strategic partnership in  二0 一 七.

She urged the two sides to accelerate measures to create a breakthrough in two-way trade, which is expected to hit US$ 一 五 billion by  二0 二0.

Ngân told the host that "Việt Nam supports and encourages Indian oil and gas companies to invest in the new oil field discovered in Việt Nam’s continental shelf".
